Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 November 2026
vn-pulse lets developers of Ren'Py games collect feedback from their players. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It covers two groups of people: developers, who sign in to vnpulse.com, and players, who send feedback from inside a game that uses the vn-pulse plugin.
Developers
What we collect
- Your account. You sign in with Discord or Google. We receive your email address, a user ID from that provider, and the name and avatar on that account. We never see or store a password.
- Your projects. Project names, the project keys we generate, and the feedback your players send to them.
- Cookies. We set cookies only to keep you signed in. Your light or dark theme choice is stored in your own browser. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
Only to run vn-pulse: to sign you in, show you your projects and feedback, and contact you about your account or important changes to the service. We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or send marketing email.
Players
What a game sends
Nothing is sent unless the player chooses to: pressing the ♥ button or submitting the feedback form. Each piece of feedback includes:
- What the player wrote, if anything, and the kind of feedback (text fix, bug, suggestion or praise).
- Where in the game it was sent from: the script label, file and line, the line of dialogue on screen and who was speaking, and the game's language.
- The game version, Ren'Py version, plugin version and operating system (for example, Windows).
- Random IDs for the install, the play session and the playthrough. The plugin generates these itself; they aren't linked to the player's name, account, device or anything outside the game.
We don't store players' names, email addresses or IP addresses with their feedback. Feedback is anonymous to us and to the developer, unless a player writes something identifying into the message itself. Please don't.
To stop anyone flooding the service, we count how much feedback arrives from each IP address. We count using a one-way, keyed hash of the address, never the address itself; the counts aren't linked to any feedback and are deleted after about a day.
Feedback is visible only to the developer who owns the project. If you're a player with a question about feedback you sent, contact the game's developer: we can't tell which feedback is yours.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in.
- Vercel hosts the website and the feedback API.
- Discord and Google confirm your identity when you sign in with them.
Like any web service, Supabase and Vercel briefly record technical details such as IP addresses in their server logs, for security and reliability. Their own privacy policies apply to that.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and projects until you ask us to delete them. When you delete feedback in the dashboard it disappears from your view straight away; it can stay in our database after that, and we'll erase it permanently on request. To delete your account and everything in it, email us and we'll do it within 30 days.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing hello@vnpulse.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
vn-pulse accounts are for game developers and aren't intended for children under 13. Player feedback is anonymous and isn't linked to anyone's identity.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll email developers. See also our Terms of Service.
